What I Read Last Month :: April
Often what I read throughout a given time period follows a particular theme and I have very often over the past year chosen a reading list which matches that month's Happiness Project focus. However in April, although not the focus or even intention, it was clearly all about food and nutrition. Which makes sense because a large proportion of my time the past few weeks was spent developing Whole30 coaching materials. And I don't mind at all since this is one of my favorite topics and it was fun to read some other sources of information and perspectives on health as we get fired up for the Flex in the…

What I Read Last Month :: March
One of the most effective ways of boosting our enjoyment of any activity is to share it with someone else. By telling others about our good news or bringing our friends along to barre with us, or sharing a good meal with someone else, the best things in life are just better when they also involve our loved ones. And so, because I love reading so much, over the past year or so, Jon and I have started to read one book at time together. So far, they have mostly been focused on marriage (current book: Happy Together by Suzann Pileggi Pawelski and James O. Pawelski), but they could technically…

What I Read Last Month :: February
When Jon and I first started dating, a major issue and area of frustration for him was my inability to prioritize. He is exceptional not only at taking a step back, looking at the big picture, and determining what really matters, but also at knowing his own limitations and resources. I find that I struggle a bit on all these points, but the biggest issue for me is actually ACCEPTING that I have limitations and can’t actually do everything all at the same time. But I have gotten immeasurably better over the past year especially. By investing time in knowing myself better, making lists of 100 dreams, remembering what I…

What I Read Last Month :: January
2018 is off with a bang and I am loving it thus far! I invested some time at the end of last year in setting goals, resolutions, and intentions for the next few years and then got to work to in January lying the foundation. Choosing my one word theme this year, “PREPARE,” was helpful, I had fun creating a vision board to remind me of this daily, and I worked on many of my personal projects throughout the month which influenced my reading list as well. Books made up the bulk of my Christmas wishlist and my friends and family made sure I am well stocked up 🙂 Here…

What I Read Last Month :: December
2018 is officially underway and I am excited for a fresh start and the year ahead. I am feeling refreshed by my visits back home, the time spent with friends and family and just to be back in the States. Now I am happy to be back “home” in Cork with my little Coco, back to Flex in the City and my beloved routine. As I mentioned previously, my Happiness Project last month was focused on fun and allowing myself to do things just for the sake of enjoyment and pleasure as opposed to limiting myself only to my more traditionally productive activities. This was a good decision in light…

What I Read Last Month :: November
I know this time of year is crazy for everyone, but I cannot believe that I am this far behind. And since things have been very hectic for me lately, I am not only delayed my usual reading recap post, but also had far less opportunity for reading itself over the past month. I absolutely love to read, so it is something that I try to make a priority if at all possible, but with the busier holiday social calendar and all the extra project I have had going on, it has made it a bit difficult. However, I do have an enormous reading list prepared for my Christmas break…

What I Read Last Month :: October
In honor of the tradition started last month, today I am sharing the books that I have read throughout October. As I mentioned, my Happiness Project for the month was centered around money – I updated my budgets and kept up to date on my Mint app to monitor spending, I abstained from purchases aside from groceries and coffee for the whole month up until my planned exception in Milan. I tried to live generously each day and I worked on spending out, using up and clearing out anything which was broken, old or otherwise obsolete. Some days were better than others of course, but I enjoyed working on these…

What I Read Last Month :: September
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to read. Although at various points in my life I have made this a higher priority than I have at others, I am happy to have found many ways to make this a very consistent and important part of my day-to-day life presently. As part of my Happiness Project this year, I have tried to focus the genre of my reading on whatever area of my life my resolutions are focused on for that particular month, but September was a little scattered. Since what I read often comes up in my writing on the blog or my real life conversations,…
